Great craftspeople are always improving their skills and knowledge of the trade. 12 of our top people gathered for 2 hours this past Wednesday with a top Graco Sprayer representative, Bill Clark, and two senior Sherwin-Williams representatives. The feedback from the guys was that the 2 hours flew by and was filled with demonstrations of the latest equipment, some Q&A and excellent Tips and Tricks. The group ranged from our most senior people who have decades of spraying experience and can practically break down the pumps with their eyes blindfolded to some of our really talented hand painting staff who were immersing themselves in the world of spraying.
It was said that the presentation was truly engaging and it sparked debates for quite some time after the event finished. There were guys hanging around asking questions and discussing their experiences with the masters. ”This kind of training allows all of our staff to improve and gives those who don’t have access to this kind of work on a regular basis a chance to experience the different approaches,” said Travis Senecal, Production Manager. Many of our crews have multiple machines going on any given day and having more highly trained staff to diagnose problems can really impact the safety and productivity of a crew.
After all, the day ends much better when we have fewer machine problems, jobs end up with better quality and we go home safely. This group of painters and crew leaders are some of the best in the area and I’m proud to say they are always working on their craft. That’s the mark of a truly great Craftsperson.
